There is no one size fits all tool for data extraction.

That said, we’ve luckily passed the point where we need to extract data using pencils and paper forms. These days, data extraction is conducted on the computer.

You can use word processing software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs, spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, relational database software such as Microsoft Access, or online, cloud-based relational database platforms such as the Systematic Review Data Repository (SRDR), DistillerSR, or Covidence. And that’s just to name a few!
